Australia: Metgasco Raises AUD 10.4 Million>> LNG World News

Metgasco Raises AUD 10.4 Million

Metgasco announced the successful raising of $10.4 million from the recent Share Purchase Plan. The proceeds of the Share Purchase Plan will be combined with the recent $10.2 million placement and existing cash reserves of $10 million to progress Metgasco?s 2012/13 work program.

?The successful capital raising is a sign of confidence from both our own shareholders and the broader financial community in the need for CSG production in NSW and eastern Australia, and the future of Metgasco?, Mr Henderson said.

Mr Henderson also said ?Through the renewal of our exploration licences, the approval of our first production licence and the strong support from Ministers Hartcher and Hazzard, it is clear that the CSG industry is recognised as being safe and that it has the support of the NSW Government.?

Metgasco is now moving ahead, with a focus of taking the company from its exploration phase to a production / commercial phase, with 2012/2013 field activities that include:

  • drilling of three lateral CSG wells to provide further confidence in well productivity and provide additional gas for local supplies;
  • drilling of the three core wells; and
  • acquisition of seismic and the drilling of the Rosella-1 well to test Metgasco?s conventional gas potential.

?In parallel with these field activities, Metgasco will be pursuing the studies, agreements and approvals to allow sales to the local, Northern Rivers market, as well as those required to provide gas to the eastern Australian and international markets,? Mr Henderson said.

MADRID (AP) ? Spanish shepherds led a flock of more than 2,000 sheep through central Madrid on Sunday in defense of ancient grazing, migration and droving rights threatened by urban sprawl and modern agricultural practices.

Many tourists and residents were surprised to see traffic cut to allow the ovine parade to bleat its way across some of Madrid's most upscale urban streets.

The right to use droving routes that wind across land that was open fields and woodland before Madrid grew from a rural hamlet to the great metropolis it is today has existed since at least 1273.

Every year, a handful of shepherds defend the right and, following an age-old tradition, on Sunday paid 25 maravedis ? coins first minted in the 11th century ? to city hall to use the crossing.

Shepherds have a right to use 78,000 miles (125,000 kilometers) of paths for seasonal livestock migrations from cool highland pastures in summer to warmer and more protected lowland grazing in winter.

The movement is called transhumance and in Spain up until recently involved close to a million animals a year, mostly sheep and cattle.

Modern farming practices are however increasingly confining animals to barns, because shepherding is costly, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, which has been promoting the colorful annual Transhumance Fiesta in Madrid since 1994.

Madrid became an important urban center when King Philip II chose it as the capital of his vast empire in 1561. Some paths have been used for more than 800 years and modern-day Madrid has sprawled to engulf two north-south routes. One that crosses Puerta del Sol ? Madrid's equivalent of New York's Times Square ? dates back to 1372.

Spaniards are proud of their centuries-old sheep rearing traditions and hold the native Merino breed of sheep in particular esteem. Merinos have gone on to form the backbone of important wool industries in places such as Australia and South America.

Heart attack victims in rich, white neighborhoods twice as likely to get CPR than people who collapse in poor, black neighborhoods

ScienceDaily (Oct. 24, 2012) ? In the first study of its kind, researchers have found that those who suffer cardiac arrests in upper income, white neighborhoods are nearly twice as likely to get cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) than people who collapse in low-income, black neighborhoods.

"If you drop in a neighborhood that is 80 percent white with a median income over $40,000 a year, you have a 55 percent chance of getting CPR," said study author Comilla Sasson, MD, an emergency room physician at the University of Colorado Hospital. "If you drop in a poor, black neighborhood you have a 35 percent chance. Life or death can literally be determined by what side of the street you drop on."

The study was published October 24 in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Sasson, an assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, analyzed data from 14,225 patients who suffered cardiac arrests in 29 cities from 2005-2009. She and her colleagues used census data to determine which neighborhood the event took place in, its racial make-up and median household income. Low-income was considered at or below $40,000 a year.

"We found a direct relationship between the median household income and racial composition of a neighborhood and the probability that a person whose heart had stopped would have a bystander perform CPR," the study said. "This association was most apparent in low-income black neighborhoods where the odds of receiving bystander- initiated CPR were approximately 50 percent lower than in high-income, nonblack neighborhoods."

A number of reasons were identified for this disparity. One is the cost of CPR training. Another is a lack of outreach to minority neighborhoods by organizations that promote CPR. And there are also language barriers and cultural issues surrounding the learning and performance of CPR.

Part of the study involved conducting focus groups in poor neighborhoods. In one area of Columbus, OH residents had median incomes of $20,000.

"If they paid $250 for a CPR class you are talking about 15 percent of their salary," Sasson said. "When you look at the competing economic interests -- am I going to eat tonight or attend a CPR class? -- the answer is obvious."

Yet the consequences are also obvious.

According to the study, there are 300,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests each year with survival rates that vary wildly from 0.2 percent in Detroit to 16 percent in Seattle. The difference can be explained in large part to intervention with CPR.

"For every 20 who get CPR you get one life saved," Sasson said. "So you are talking about thousands of lives being saved here."

The problem isn't only about income. Even in wealthier black neighborhoods, those who had cardiac arrest were 23 percent less likely to receive CPR than in high-income nonblack neighborhoods.

And the study showed that regardless of the neighborhood where a cardiac arrest occurs, blacks and Hispanics were 30 percent less likely than whites to receive CPR from a bystander.

"This suggests that, neighborhood effects, though important, do not fully account for observed racial differences," the study said.

Sasson called for more targeted, low-cost CPR training efforts based on the income and racial composition of neighborhoods. She is also working on creating public health programs aimed at increasing bystander-given CPR in specific communities.

As a doctor who once practiced in a level one trauma center in Atlanta, Sasson has witnessed first-hand the human toll of this inequity.

"I would see African-Americans coming in and dying from cardiac arrests after having laid there for 10 minutes with no one delivering CPR," she said. "There is no reason in 2012 that this kind of disparity exists -- that you live or die depending on what side of the street you drop on. It is simply unacceptable."

OSHA Fines Redhook Brewery $63,500 For Workplace Safety ...

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has cited Redhook maker Craft Brew Alliance (CBA) for 14 violations of workplace safety regulations.

The fines followed an OSHA investigation spurred by the April 24 death of Redhook worker Ben Harris, 26, at the CBA?s Portsmouth, N.H. brewery.

CBA now faces a total of $63,500 in fines ? $13,000 of which are associated with Harris? death. Harris was pressurizing a plastic keg when it exploded, killing him; OSHA contends that CBA failed to install an air pressure regulating system, which could have prevented the death.

?The inability to regulate air pressure when cleaning out kegs exposed employees to a recognized hazard of being struck by keg debris, should the keg explode due to it being over pressurized,? said Rose Ohar, OSHA?s New Hampshire Area Director. ?This could have been avoided.?

The agency also found 12 additional citations relating to brewery safety during the investigation, including ?deficiencies in procedures for work in a confined space, incomplete procedures for locking out machines? power sources before performing maintenance, unguarded machinery, the improper storage of oxygen and acetylene tanks, and failing to inform welders of chromium hazards,? according to OSHA.

The brewery believed it was operating safely, and has addressed all of the citations, according to a statement from CBA.

The CBA has 15 business days to comply; the local Concord, N.H. OSHA office confirmed to Brewbound.com that the brewer has a scheduled conference for Oct. 31 to discuss the findings.

Citations aside, Harris? death points to growing concerns in the craft beer industry about the safety of plastic kegs. Since the incident, there have been two additional reports of exploding plastic kegs at other craft breweries and some brewers are now beginning to move away from the package.

Below is an official statement from CBA and the complete press release from OSHA.

From CBA:

?The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) released the citations of its investigation into the tragic accident at the Redhook Brewery involving Ben Harris last April. The OSHA investigation found that Redhook Brewery and parent company Craft Brew Alliance (CBA) did not willfully violate workplace safety standards. Redhook did receive citations which have already been addressed. The Portsmouth brewery uses compressed air to push waste beer out of returned kegs prior to washing and filling. The brewery believed it was operating safely because it has historically washed and filled only stainless steel beer kegs without incident. Redhook had never worked with plastic beer kegs at the time of the accident and has implemented policies to ensure that plastic kegs are not processed. Additionally, Redhook has installed pressure reducing and pressure relief devices to ensure that no incoming keg is exposed to pressure in excess of 60 psi.?

From OSHA:

CONCORD, N.H. ? The U.S. Department of Labor?s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited Portland, Ore.-based Craft Brew Alliance Inc. with 14 alleged serious violations of workplace safety standards following the April 24 death of an employee at the company?s Redhook Brewery in Portsmouth. The employee was using a compressed air line to purge liquid from the interior of a plastic keg when the keg exploded and fatally struck him.

An investigation by OSHA?s Concord Area Office determined that the explosion resulted from excess air pressure introduced into the keg from the keg cleanout line. The line lacked an air regulator that would have limited its air pressure to less than 60 PSI, or pounds per square inch, which is the maximum air pressure limit recommended by keg manufacturers. In this case, OSHA also found that other employees who used the cleanout line were exposed to the same hazard while cleaning out steel kegs.

One serious violation related to the fatality is exposing employees to struck-by hazards by exceeding manufacturers? recommended air pressure maximum while cleaning out kegs. A serious violation occurs when there is substantial probability that death or serious physical harm could result from a hazard about which the employer knew or should have known.

?The inability to regulate air pressure when cleaning out kegs exposed employees to a recognized hazard of being struck by debris should the kegs explode due to being overpressurized,? said Rosemarie Ohar, OSHA?s New Hampshire area director. ?One means of correcting this hazard, among others, and preventing future deaths or injuries is to install an air pressure regulator on the keg cleanout line so that the air pressure does not exceed manufacturers? recommended maximum.?

OSHA?s inspection of the brewery identified numerous additional hazards unrelated to the explosion. These include deficiencies in procedures for work in a confined space, incomplete procedures for locking out machines? power sources before performing maintenance, unguarded machinery, the improper storage of oxygen and acetylene tanks, and failing to inform welders of chromium hazards. Thirteen additional serious violations have been cited for these conditions.

Craft Brew Alliance Inc. faces a total of $63,500 in proposed fines, and has 15 business days from receipt of its citations and proposed penalties to comply, meet informally with the OSHA area director or contest the findings before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.

To ask questions, obtain compliance assistance, file a complaint, or report workplace hospitalizations, fatalities or situations posing imminent danger to workers, the public should call OSHA?s toll-free hotline at 800-321-OSHA (6742) or the agency?s Concord office at 603-225-1629.

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees. OSHA?s role is to ensure these conditions for America?s working men and women by setting and enforcing standards, and providing training, education and assistance. Germany orders recall of some Novartis flu shots

BERLIN (AP) ? German authorities ordered a recall Thursday of some batches of Novartis flu vaccine as a precautionary measure after the company reported the appearance of small particles in the manufacturing process.

The Paul Ehrlich Institute, which is part of the country's Ministry of Health, said there had been no reports of particle formation in Germany or of any serious side effects during the current flu season.

"However, in the interest of risk prevention and consumer safety it is necessary to cancel the approval for certain vaccines, since the formation of particles in the vaccine and therefore the risk of serious side effects cannot be ruled out," Institute President Prof. Klaus Cichutek said in a statement.

The decision affects four batches of the influenza vaccine Begripal and one batch of Fluad. It does not affect the seasonal vaccine Optaflu.

Italy's health ministry banned the sale of four Novartis flu drugs on Wednesday. These included Fluad and Begripal ? sold as Aggripal in Italy ? as well as two others: Influpozzi Adiuvato and Influpozzi Subunita.

Switzerland's regulator Swissmedic also suspended deliveries of flu vaccines from Novartis as a preventive measure.

Britain's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency said there was no evidence yet to pull the vaccines off the market but added it was gathering further information on the Novartis vaccines.

The Swiss pharmaceutical company said Thursday it was cooperating with the Ministry of Health in Italy, where the vaccines are produced, and was committed to providing vaccines to patients for the current flu season. There had been no adverse effects reported so far from more than 1 million doses of Agrippal/Begripal and Fluad administered, the Basel-based company said.

"Novartis confirms that these particles can occur in the vaccine manufacturing process and is confident that there is no impact on the safety or efficacy of the vaccine," it said in a statement.

The Pentagon's Convoluted Search for Better Camouflage

The Pentagon is used to being accused of wasting time and money on ineffective weapons, but this time its clothes that are catching flack. The Army announced earlier this year that it was ditching plans for a universal battle dress uniform, despite the fact that it sunk years and billions of dollars into developing a single uniform for all Army personnel.

The current uniform brouhaha dates back over 10 years, when there was just one type of camouflage for all the military's branches: The Army's Battle Dress and Desert Camouflage uniforms. But in 2002 the services embarked on separate paths, each developing its own camouflage. The results have been, to put it mildly, mixed. Here's a rundown of what worked... and what didn't:

Army: The Army's ambitious effort to develop a camouflage pattern that would work for all environments failed on a single, seemingly obvious principle: What works in the jungles of Southwest Asia probably won't work for deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan. A recent report by the Government Accountability Office, the investigative arm of Congress, found that, incredibly, the Army chose the Universal Camouflage Pattern?a digital olive green?gray pattern?before formal testing was completed by experts at the Army's Natick Soldier Systems Center.

In fact, according to the GAO, the Army started outfitting soldiers in the new camouflage in early 2005, even though later that same year a formal evaluation concluded that a desert brush pattern would be far better. In 2009 another study pointed out that the Universal Camouflage Pattern was putting soldiers at risk by making them more visible to the enemy. This year the Army finally decided to drop the idea of a universal camouflage in favor of a more traditional approach to camouflage uniforms tailored for different environments.

Air Force: In 2002 the Air Force decided to go with a tiger stripe, a choice that has been openly mocked for having its roots in the Vietnam War. The GAO offered a more measured critique but noted that the Air Force, weirdly, used "test results of a desert pattern in a woodland area." The fabric also ended up being something of a disaster, with airmen complaining of heat (one makeshift solution was to cut out the internal pockets).

In 2010 the Air Force grew worried that tiger-stripe camouflage would make airmen more visible when standing next to better camouflaged Army personnel, so it allowed some personnel to instead wear the Army's Operation Enduring Freedom camouflage pattern, which was itself a stop-gap solution to the now-rejected Universal Camouflage Pattern.

Navy: The Navy has a new desert uniform called Type II that sailors started wearing last year. But not all personnel actually get to wear it, only those in Naval Special Warfare and those who support that mission. This created an illogical situation in which some Navy personnel deployed to a desert environment, such as Afghanistan, ended up wearing a woodland uniform. The reason for this limitation? The Marine Corps apparently was concerned the Navy desert uniform too closely resembled its own.

Marine Corps: Unlike the other services, the Marines went through dozens of different camouflage patterns before narrowing the field down to two basic choices: Tiger Stripe and Canadian Disruptive Pattern, a digital camouflage pattern. After testing, the Marines chose the Canadian design and called it Marine Corps Pattern, or MARPAT. The GAO was actually complimentary of the Marine Corps' choice, saying the service pursued a sound testing and acquisition plan before buying the new uniforms.

Soaked Jamaica braces for possible hurricane

KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) ? Jamaicans hunkered down at home as Tropical Storm Sandy buffeted the Caribbean island with pelting rain and howling winds early Wednesday and forecasters said it was likely to hit as a hurricane.

The island's international airports prepared to close, cruise ships changed their itineraries and police ordered 48-hour curfews in major towns to keep people off the streets and deter looting as the late-season storm neared Jamaica's south coast.

The 18th named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season was forecast to pass over Jamaica and then spin on into eastern Cuba by Wednesday evening or Thursday morning. It was expected to pass west of the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, where pretrial hearings are being held for a suspect in the deadly 2000 attack on the destroyer USS Cole off Yemen.

Across Jamaica, poor people in ramshackle shantytowns and moneyed residents in gated communities were jittery about Sandy's approach. Many sections of the debt-shackled country have crumbling infrastructure, and a lack of building codes has resulted in some middle-class homes and tin-roofed shacks being built close to steep embankments and gullies.

Dangerous flash floods and mudslides set off by Sandy were a threat for the island of roughly 2.7 million inhabitants, Jamaica's meteorological service said.

In the hilly community of Kintyre, near the capital of Kingston, Sharon Gayle and a few of her drenched neighbors expected to lose the town's bridge over the Hope River, which washed away a section of the span just three weeks ago during a heavy downpour.

"We've gotten cut off here a whole heap of times. But with a big nasty hurricane on the way, I'm really nervous. We're trying not to show it in front of the children though," the mother of three said, huddling under a sopping white towel as she stared at the rising river.

The storm was predicted to drop as much as 10 inches (25 centimeters) of rain, especially over central and eastern parts of Jamaica, the country's meteorological service said. Some isolated spots could see as much as 20 inches (50 centimeters), according to U.S. forecasters. Battering waves and a strong storm surge were also forecast.

Airports in Kingston and were scheduled to close Wednesday morning and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. announced that its Allure of the Seas megaship would not stop at Jamaica's northern Falmouth terminal on Wednesday, remaining at sea instead.

To deter looters and other criminals, Deputy Police Commissioner Glenmore Hinds warned that police "will react swiftly to protect life and property."

In Cuba, authorities issued a hurricane watch for several provinces and there were intermittent rains over Haiti, where a tropical storm warning was in effect. A tropical storm watch was also posted for parts of the Bahamas, where the storm was predicted to pass Thursday.

Although Florida was not expected to receive any direct impact from Sandy, Brian Koon, director of the U.S. state's emergency management division, said residents should remain aware of the storm and take precautions to keep themselves safe from indirect impacts including rip currents.

Around dawn Wednesday, Sandy had maximum sustained winds of 70 mph (110 kph) and was centered 95 miles (155 kilometers) south-southwest of Kingston. It was moving north at 14 mph (22 kph).

Meanwhile, U.S. forecasters said Tropical Storm Tony had formed over the open Atlantic, but posed no threat to land. The storm had maximum sustained winds of about 45 mph (75 kph) and it was moving east-northeast at 16 mph (26 kph). Its center was 1,415 miles (2,275 kilometers) west-southwest of the Azores.

Gaza rockets draw Israeli strikes; 2 Gazans die

JERUSALEM (AP) ? Gaza militants pummeled southern Israel with dozens of rockets and mortars on Wednesday, and Israeli airstrikes killed two Palestinians in a sharp escalation of violence following a landmark visit to the coastal territory by the leader of Qatar.

Hostilities have been simmering for weeks, but erupted into barrages from Gaza immediately after the Qatari ruler left the territory Tuesday. Militants from the ruling Hamas movement joined the fray, undercutting the emir's appeal to avoid confrontation with Israel.

Israeli leaders vowed that their country would not reconcile itself to attacks from the coastal strip.

"We didn't ask for this escalation and didn't initiate it," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said after touring a missile defense battery. "But if it continues, we are prepared to embark on a far more extensive and penetrating operation."

Asked if Israel was considering a ground operation in the Palestinian territory, Defense Minister Ehud Barak told Israel Radio that "if we need a ground operation there will be a ground operation. We will do whatever necessary to stop this wave" of violence.

The Israeli military said 72 rockets and mortars landed in Israel by mid-afternoon, and that Israeli aircraft struck Gaza four times.

Hamas' military wing and a smaller militant faction claimed credit for the rocket and mortar fire.

The smaller group ? the Popular Resistance Committees ? said one of its members died in one of the airstrikes, and Gaza health official Dr. Ashraf al-Kidra said another Gaza man died of wounds sustained in an attack Tuesday night that killed two militants. No militant group claimed him as a member.

The deaths brought to four the number of Palestinians who have died in strikes on Gaza in the past two days.

Two foreign workers in Israel were critically wounded in the rocket fire Wednesday, and a number of militants were injured in the Israeli air attacks, Israeli and Palestinian health officials said. Hamas security forces were ordered to evacuate their facilities for fear they would become targets of Israeli airstrikes, and some schools in southern Israel and Gaza canceled classes.

One of the rockets hit a house, causing no injuries, and one of the airstrikes struck a mosque in the southern Gaza village of Khouza for the second time in several weeks.

Crossings between Gaza and Israel were shut down following the exchanges of fire.

Hamas has largely stayed out of direct confrontation with Israel since a major Israeli offensive in Gaza four years ago inflicted heavy casualties and damage, and halted much of the rocket fire. But it is also under pressure from various militant groups, including al-Qaida-inspired Salafis active in Gaza, to prove it remains in confrontation with Israel, whose existence it rejects.

The Qatari emir, Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, had urged the Iranian-backed Hamas to do everything possible to avoid violence with Israel.

But the emir's visit and promise of $400 million in aid bolstered Hamas' flagging popularity and might have encouraged it to join the latest round of hostilities, which had previously involved smaller militant groups.

"These holy missions come in response to the repeated, continuous crimes of the enemy against our people, which killed four and injured 10 in the past 48 hours," the military wing of Hamas and the Popular Resistance Committees said in a statement.

DuPont to cut 1,500 jobs after 3Q profit slide

Chemical maker the DuPont Co. will cut 1,500 jobs and take other steps to increase competitiveness after a third quarter in which earnings fell sharply.

The Wilmington, Del.-based company reported net income of $10 million Tuesday, or a penny per share, compared with $452 million, or 48 cents per share, for the same period last year. Excluding one-time items, DuPont earned 44 cents per share, compared with 69 cents per share for last year's third quarter.

The results fell short of the average estimate of 46 cents per share, and Dupont's stock slid 4 percent in premarket trading.

Revenue totaled about $7.4 billion, down 9 percent from $8.1 billion.

CEO Ellen Kullman said weaker than expected demand in titanium dioxide and photovoltaic markets contributed to the decline.

"Today, we are taking additional actions to improve competitiveness and accelerate market-driven innovation and growth by fine-tuning the organization, eliminating costs and expanding beyond our everyday focus on productivity," Kullman said. "We continue to execute well in many parts of the company, and certain segments are outperforming despite market volatility."

DuPont noted that, beginning with the third quarter, its performance coatings segment has been classified as discontinued operations and excluded from the company's continuing operations results on a retroactive basis. The company announced in August that it was selling the performance coatings business, which caters to the automotive and industrial sectors, for $4.9 billion to The Carlyle Group, a private equity firm.

DuPont reported a loss from continuing operations of $40 million, or 5 cents a share for the quarter, compared to a gain of $376 million, or 39 cents per share, in the prior year. Excluding one-time items, third-quarter earnings from continuing operations totaled $302 million, or 32 cents per share, down from $579 million, or 60 cents per share, last year.

Kullman said DuPont's restructuring plan will deliver pretax cost savings of about $450 million by eliminating costs supporting the performance coatings unit and taking additional steps to improve competitiveness. The plan includes eliminating about 1,500 positions globally over in the next 12 to 18 months.

DuPont said it remains on track to achieve its full-year 2012 productivity targets for both fixed costs and working capital, and that it expects 2012 earnings from continuing operations, excluding significant items, to range from $3.25 to $3.30 per share, compared to prior-year earnings of $3.55 per share on a comparable basis.

For the quarter, volumes were down in all regions except Latin America, led by a 10 percent decline in the Asia-Pacific region. Volume declines and currency effects led to sales declines worldwide, with sales dropping 15 percent in Asia-Pacific and the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Sales in the electronics and communications segment were down 28 percent, with volume declining 20 percent. The performance chemicals segment saw an 18 percent decline in volume and 19 percent drop in sales.

On the flip side, the agriculture and health and nutrition segments saw sales gains of 4 percent each.

Cardiff white van horror father Adam Lewis describes terror as ...

THE father of one of the Cardiff hit-and-run rampage's youngest victims has described the terrifying moment his family were hit by the van.

Adam Lewis, 23, told how his partner Annie Jones, 22, and and two-year-old daughter Amelia-May were catapulted into the air as the madman aimed his vehicle at the toddler's pushchair.

Annie was undergoing surgery today to put pins and rods in her shattered leg, while little Amelia-May's swollen face is covered in scabs.

Cuddling the tot on his lap, Adam said it was a "normal day" until they were targeted out of the blue while walking from his grandmother's house.

He told Sky News: "All of a sudden we were hit from behind with the van.

"I caught the van in my peripheral vision but it was too late. He just sped up and smashed straight into us.

"I got pushed to the side with the wing mirror and unfortunately my partner and the baby took the brunt of it.

"She (Amelia-May) ended up face down on the pavement, and my partner was there holding onto her leg. It was broken."

Adam Lewis describes how his two-year-old daughter was catapulted from her pram

CCTV footage emerged today showing the young couple pushing the buggy along the pavement.

Seconds later the white Iveco van is seen swerving across four lanes and heading straight for them.

The maniac driver also killed mum-of-three Karina Menzies, 32, and left a total of 13 injured in a three-mile rampage.

Hundreds of mourners left flowers and held a minute's silence today at the spot where Karina died.

Adam, who escaped with only minor injuries, said the attack was "mind-boggling", adding: "Why somebody would want to do that I'll never know."

He went on: "I know there was a fatality and our hearts go out that family.

"We're just so relieved that we're still all OK, you know? It's just overwhelming.

"You don't expect a big white van to come and smack you off the pavement. It was a normal day. We were just walking down the road and all of a sudden, this happened, a van whacked into the back of us.

"I saw it hit my missus and she let go of the pram. It looked like she buckled. Literally her legs and her head were like an S-shape where the van hit her and she just sort of flew.

"And then she ended up going beneath the van as well.

"She's got a broken fibia and tibula and a hairline fracture to her ankle, and she's got a puncture wound on her left hip.

"She's OK, she's bearing up. She's being very brave for the baby. Very, very brave. She's doing well."

Adam joked his daughter looked like she'd been through "twelve rounds with Mike Tyson", but "she's being incredibly brave as well - I'm just hoping there's going to be no psychological effects for her.

"She just keep saying to me, 'oh I fell over, I've got a big baddie', which makes me feel terrible to be honest that she thinks it's her fault."

Meanwhile more than 200 of Karina's friends and family staged a vigil at the spot where she was mown down outside Ely Fire Station.

America First Tax Exempt Investors L.P. ... - Investment and financing

OMAHA, Neb., Oct. 22, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) ? The Company acquired 100% of the $9.5 million tax-exempt mortgage revenue bonds issued by the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency as part of a plan of financing for the acquisition and rehabilitation of the Greens at Pine Glen property on October 18, 2012. The tax-exempt mortgage revenue bonds secured by the property were acquired by the Company at par and consist of two series that mature in October 2047. The Series A bond has a par value of $8.5 million and bears interest at an annual rate of 6.5%. The Series B bond has a par value of $950,000 and bears interest at an annual interest rate of 12.0%.

The Company had previously acquired a 99% interest in the Greens of Pine Glen property as part of its strategy of acquiring existing multifamily apartment properties that it expects will be partially financed with new tax-exempt mortgage bond at the time the properties become eligible for the issuance of additional low-income housing tax credits. In connection with the issuance of the new tax-exempt bonds, the limited partnership that owns the Greens of Pine Glen property admitted two new limited partner members which then purchased the low-income housing tax credits. The new limited partner members own 99% of the partnership that owns the Greens of Pine Glen property and are obligated to invest approximately $3.2 million of capital into the property. Once sufficient equity has been invested into the property by the new limited partners, which is expected to occur in the next twelve months, the Company will record the sale of the Greens of Pine Glen property. As part of the October 18, 2012 transaction closing, the $4.6 million mortgage on the Greens of Pine Glen property was paid off.

Chad Daffer, Fund Manager, stated, ?The acquisition of the tax-exempt bonds secured by the Greens of Pine Glen property is another example that the Company?s strategy of identifying quality multifamily properties represents a future opportunity for the Company to make tax-exempt bond investments in accordance with its investment strategy.?

Due to strong local real estate market conditions, the Company sold the Commons at Churchland property in August 2012 for approximately $8.1 million, net of closing fees. This resulted in a gain of approximately $1.3 million recognized in the third quarter of 2012. The $6.0 million mortgage on the property was paid off as part of the sale.

Planning Your System Migration

Post 1990s, the technology has been advancing at a faster rate. The advancement in computer world is giving way to not only new programs, but also to their new versions and new upgrades. There is a frenzy attached to such changes taking place at a very fast pace. Because every time, a new program, which can fulfill your organizational needs, is introduced, you have to review and evaluate your current resources so as to check if it fits in your IT infrastructure. If it does not fit, then you have to make changes. The changes might include expansion of your systems? storage space, OS migration, System migration etc. If it requires you to migrate to other systems, here is a guide for you to plan the whole process.

Things to consider before system migration

System migration can be done in two ways. One is by physical migration wherein you copy all the data from your older system and transfer it to the new system manually. The second method is by using migration software. Whichever the case might be, here are a few things you need to consider before starting the system migration process.

Cost- benefit analysis

System migration can be a little expensive since it requires purchasing of new systems along with the program for which the changes are being made. So make sure that the software or operating system or any other program which you are making changes for, is worth it. That is to say, if there is a similar type of program available in the market which has the ability to run in your current systems, you can opt for it. Or if the program requires changes only in terms of memory, increase the space in your current systems. Make system migration only if it is completely necessary as it is a costly affair.

Compatibility of applications

There is a general misconception amongst people that any software related to their business is always good for the business. This is not true at all. Check how important that software can be to your organization. Analyze the benefits it can give you over the current applications, check for compatibility and only then make the switch. It is good to have updated systems but only if the applications give you more benefits over your old application.

Training of end users

This is very important in case you are ready to make the switch from your old systems to newer ones. Give proper training to the end users so that they know how to use the new systems and applications effectively. It can be troublesome for users since the new systems will have different look and features. If there is an OS migration involved, it could be a little difficult for them to adapt to. So make sure your IT staff gives effective training to the users.

Licensing costs

There are costs involved with licensing of new hardware and software components. So discuss with your IT staff about the cost of systems and the different companies that offer them. See if there are any discounts available.

These are a few things that you have to consider before making system migration. Ensure that OS migration, data transfer and the new software deployment are all done efficiently. Make the switch and upgrade your organization?s technical infrastructure.
