"So I went on there and began tweeting ? I think I asked "What the heck is a wicket?" - and from there on the numbers starting shooting up and at one point peaked at around 13,500 followers.
Exasperated after receiving hundreds of tweets, she finally replied: "I'm not a freaking cricket match!" - a slogan which, in 2010, became an internet hit. The babysitter from Massachusetts sold T-shirts bearing the slogan, and was flown to Australia to watch The Ashes as a gift from Quantas.
"It's crazy but amazing," she told Test Match Special in 2011. "Sydney is a beautiful city.
"I went down and visited the Barmy Army, and they sang some songs and had me singing along. They are having the time of their lives and they really know how to enjoy themselves."
This year Miss Kerekes is not in Australia, but is still closely following the series ? even though she admits she had no knowledge of cricket before her online name went viral.
